The RSU 63 Board of Directors unanimously elected Carmen Rioux as special education director at its July 15 meeting in Eddington.
The motion to elect Rioux was made by Board member Cherie Faulkner and seconded by Rachel Downs; the board recorded the vote as 8 approved, 0 opposed. Superintendent Jared Fulgoni introduced Rioux, and Rioux summarized her experience within the district as a special education teacher.
The board also recorded appointments for Holbrook Middle School coaches: Ethan Welch was listed as girls soccer coach, Jason Smith as boys soccer coach and Dennis Whitney as cross country coach. Those appointments appear in the personnel section of the minutes; the minutes do not record a separate roll-call vote for each appointment.
The minutes list multiple open searches and anticipated vacancies, including an interim elementary school principal; music teacher (grades 5–8); special education teacher (Eddington); educational technician I; educational technician III — library; RTI coordinator (Holbrook Middle School); speech-language pathologist; long-term occupational therapist; anticipated special education bus driver; substitute bus drivers; and additional coaching vacancies.
The board approved related motions earlier in the meeting, and the minutes were later stamped "Approved: August 26, 2024."
