At the Jan. 20 council meeting, Clerk-Treasurer Aaron Frank reported January RITA deposits of $552,316, describing the figure as roughly $160,000 below the previous year and $108,000 less than two years earlier, while cautioning it was too soon to identify a definitive trend.
Frank said the Capital Fund is expected to begin 2026 with about $1.4 million and that initial figures for 2026 capital projects have been integrated into the draft budget; he scheduled a Finance Committee meeting and a Wage & Salary Committee meeting before the next council meeting to begin a detailed review with department heads.
On operational spending, Acting Fire Chief Lasky told council the annual hydrant rental increased to $4,997.82 but is cost effective because repairs or replacements can cost an estimated $7,000 to $10,000 each. Council approved payment to the City of Cleveland Division of Water for the hydrant rental by a 4–0 vote.
Frank also reported meetings with the Village Engineer to review capital projects and noted that further budget discussions will occur at the upcoming Finance Committee meeting.
