Brooklyn Heights council approves three police appointments, promotes Kuczeryn to sergeant

Council adopted Ordinances 1-2026, 2-2026 and 3-2026 on Jan. 6, each by 5-0 votes, to promote Michael P. Kuczeryn to the rank of sergeant and to appoint Patrolwoman Meghan R. Watson and Patrolman Ismail W. Quran to the Brooklyn Heights Police Department.
Chief Leahy congratulated the promoted and newly appointed officers and said Sergeant Kuczeryn “has done an exceptional job for the department over the past five years.” Chief Lasky welcomed Watson back to the department and introduced Quran’s service background from Cleveland. Sergeant Kuczeryn, Watson and Quran each introduced family and friends who attended the meeting.
Council also approved a $4,500 payment to the Parma Police Department for the Mobile Forensic annual fee and routine payroll/payments connected to department operations. The ordinances were recorded as emergency measures and became effective immediately per the meeting record.
