Woolwich introduces no-parking ordinance targeting streets behind Kingsway

The Woolwich Township Committee on Oct. 6 introduced Ordinance 2025-18 to amend Chapter 182 of the municipal code and establish no-parking regulations on Merseyside Drive, Bentino Drive, Casella Way and Weathersfield Court, areas behind Kingsway High School where student parking has migrated after changes to on-campus junior parking rules.

Mayor Matthias said the Merseyside portion of the ordinance mirrors existing signage and that the other streets address parking changes after the school prohibited junior on-campus parking; he said the township will communicate the regulation to Kingsway. Committeeman Frederick asked how the township would differentiate resident vehicles from service providers; the committee declined to pursue a parking sticker system and noted enforcement would likely rely on police identification of nonresident vehicles.

The ordinance was introduced on a motion by Deputy Mayor Nocentino, seconded by Mayor Matthias. The roll-call introduction vote was recorded as: Committeeman Frederick — Yes; Committeewoman Minhas — Yes; Committeewoman Williams — Yes; Deputy Mayor Nocentino — Yes; Mayor Matthias — Yes. The minutes also record related resident public comment asking that the ordinance clarify recently signed no-parking areas and requesting additional evaluations of locations where buses have difficulty when vehicles park on curves and near intersections; Mayor Matthias asked the resident to provide an email with specific locations for follow-up.
