DeWitt City Council receives 2025 Planning Commission report; approves agenda and minutes

Mayor Susan Leeming called the DeWitt City Council to order at 7 p.m. on Feb. 9, 2026, and the council unanimously approved the evening’s agenda and the Jan. 26 minutes.
The council formally received the Planning Commission’s 2025 annual report after Councilmember VanDyke summarized topics the commission addressed last year. “The council voted to receive and place on file the 2025 Planning Commission Annual Report,” Councilmember Whitman said after making the motion, which Councilmember Donohue seconded; the motion carried by unanimous vote.
City Administrator Daniel Coss reviewed the administrator’s report that had been included in the packet; no public comment was recorded during the meeting. In staff and council reports, Clerk-Treasurer Sarah Stoltzfus reminded residents that “Taxes are due next Tuesday, February 17th.” Police Chief Bryan Curtis reported he had attended a police chiefs’ conference and noted that “the Sergeant posting closes on this Friday.”
Councilmember Landgraf said Ox Roast planning is underway for the 80th celebration: “They are going to start fundraising soon. Fun activities and events are in the works for the 80th Ox Roast.” Parks staff were scheduled to meet Wednesday to discuss kayak lockers. A resident also expressed appreciation for a repaired electric car charger, Councilmember Donohue said.
No items were listed under Old Business. The council adjourned at 7:40 p.m. following a unanimous motion by Councilmember VanDyke and second by Councilmember Whitman.
