Selectmen approved creating a committee to plan Brooksville’s 250th birthday celebration set for Aug. 2, 2026, and recorded volunteers and task leads for events including a 5K, parade (theme: 'Under the Sea'), children's race and an evening pan dance. Minutes list committee volunteers and note the need to seek permission from private landowners to use fields for parking.
The board also recorded its support for Blue Hill Peninsula Forward (BHPF) becoming a nonprofit and for BHPF to apply for a state-funded Community Action Grant. The town voted to serve as prime applicant and fiscal agent for a Community Action Grant covering Sept. 2026–Aug. 2028, and the board recorded staff will provide needed data and support for related housing grant work.
The minutes show the town received a $3,500 CBI grant and that planning staff will continue to coordinate grant applications, outreach, and volunteer recruitment for the 250th celebration and other community initiatives.
