For 41 Wilson and 20 Lincoln, the council voted to issue abatement orders that will be filed in the land records and impose the stated 30‑day compliance window; if owners fail to act, the city manager is authorized to cause demolition and charge costs as a lien against the property. Tim, speaking for code enforcement, said some owners have contacted the office with preliminary plans, while others had not accepted service or provided no response.
Eric and other property representatives acknowledged the buildings’ problems and said they were seeking contractors or planning tenant relocation; councilors noted the risk that people may attempt to shelter in condemned buildings over winter and asked police and code staff to monitor and coordinate appropriately.
Votes: Motions to order abatement for 41 Wilson, 20 Lincoln, 227 State and 16 Jud each passed; one abstention was recorded on 227 State Street. Council directed staff to work with owners on reasonable timelines when feasible, and the city will file abatement orders in the registry of deeds.
