Planning Board elects Roope and Gerow to leadership; addresses generator, Façade funds and remote presentations

On Jan. 16 the Presque Isle Planning Board accepted nominations for chair and vice-chair (Bruce Roope and Ward Gerow), heard an update that a Community Center generator will be installed in spring, and discussed a $200,000 donation redirected from the Façade program and the possibility of remote presenters.
The Presque Isle Planning Board unanimously accepted nominations on Jan. 16 to seat Bruce Roope as chair and Ward Gerow as vice-chair. The nominations were made and accepted by motion, recorded as unanimous in the minutes.
During other business, City Manager Tyler Brown told the board a generator for the Community Center has been purchased and is scheduled for installation in the spring; Brown said a prior outage caused about $40,000 in damage that is being worked out with insurance. Chairman Roope asked about $200,000 that had been intended for the Façade program; Brown said the donor redirected the funds to a Forum project and board members were advised that the PIDF Trustees should handle any timeframe or administration for Façade grants.
Rachel Murchison asked whether presenters who travel from far away could present by Zoom; Tim St. Peter said he would look into allowing remote presenters but noted board members must attend in person to vote and staff prefer in-person presentations so presenters can see the site. The meeting adjourned at 6:53 PM by motion of Richard Engels, seconded by Ward Gerow.
