At a meeting focused on South Wharf Road access, Selectman John H. Gray described complaints about long-term vehicles blocking the turn-around and obstructing sight lines for drivers, including school-bus near-misses. Lt. Timothy Cote of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office attended and agreed that additional signage should clarify parking and load/unload zones. Gayle M. Clifford was directed to order three sign types: 'Town Landing Parking begins here,' 'Town Landing Parking ends here,' and 'No Parking – Turn Around Only,' and the board adopted a 15-minute unloading zone for the landing.
The board also discussed vegetation and long-standing parking practices that may have created prescriptive-use issues for the adjacent private property; they scheduled a follow-up meeting (Nov. 23) to discuss the Gregor family concerns in person and asked property owners to trim shrubs to restore sight lines.
Next steps: Gayle Clifford to order the signs and the board to monitor enforcement once installed; the board set a Nov. 23 follow-up meeting to continue the landing discussion with local property owners.
