Brooksville moves to secure plow truck, increases winter-roads spending

On Nov. 2 members reviewed winter-plow plans, approved buying a sand screen after a quoted price of $8,500, and discussed higher pay for CDL drivers and incentives for additional drivers. Emergency meetings with prospective drivers (Paul Carter, Earl Clifford Jr., Sparky Clifford and others) led to a vote to have Paul Carter plow for $100 per truck where available.
Supply items and quantities were noted in minutes: the town planned to acquire 1,500 yards of sand at a quoted $24,750 and 125 tons of salt at $8,850; officials also discussed salt-shed and long-term salt storage options with DOT representatives during planning sessions.
Next steps: The board will track special-town-meeting authorization for the truck purchase, finalize sand/salt procurement, and formalize driver contracts and winter-roads appropriations with the budget committee.
