Readfield Select Board hears Heritage Days plans, conditionally OKs Kent Hill liquor permit

The Readfield Select Board on Tuesday reviewed plans and a budget update for Heritage Days and conditionally approved a liquor license application for Kent Hill School.
Jen, the town events staffer, said she had prepared the schedule and flyer and that the town has already spent about $7,500 on Heritage Days so far, including a $5,600 fireworks contract. She listed additional expected expenses: a band fee of $1,000 (not yet paid), audiovisual rental up to about $300, and inflatables totaling roughly $1,800. Jen said she hopes food for the fairgrounds fundraiser will be donated by local organizations and that volunteers (including the Boy Scouts and Lions Club) will assist with operations.
“All of our events are good to go… I have my poster prepared. All of our events are good to go. I’ve spent about $7,500 total right now,” Jen said. Board members thanked Jen and noted strong volunteer turnout at recent planning meetings.
On a separate agenda item, the board considered a liquor license application from Kent Hill School for an October event. Because the online application packet was incomplete, the board moved, seconded and unanimously approved a conditional grant of the license for Oct. 10–11, pending completion of the application materials and documentation; the board also waived a public hearing because there have been no complaints about prior activities.
What happens next: Jen will finalize Heritage Days logistics and outstanding vendor payments; the Kent Hill School application will return to the town office for final verification before a formal license is issued.
