Buckeye Lake police say license‑plate reader helped solve third felony, add two reserve officers

Police Chief Jason Harget told Buckeye Lake Village Council on Aug. 25 that the department’s recently installed license‑plate reader has helped investigators identify a direction of travel and contributed to solving what he described as the department’s third felony "high-profile" case.
Chief Harget said the system gives investigators insight into direction of travel and that the village is trying to determine funding options and camera placement to expand the program. He thanked Mayor Linda Goodman for participating in a meeting about the system and praised mutual-aid support from neighboring departments at a recent MOPAR event, saying the event was "very safe" and produced only two citations.
Harget also said the department added two reserve officers, identified in the meeting minutes as Mark Consolo and Rex Adkins, and that he will meet with the fiscal officer to discuss next year’s budget.
