Gregg County court authorizes solicitations for mowing and contractor services and approves asset disposition

Gregg County Commissioners Court on June 16 authorized county purchasing staff to advertise two solicitations and approved a disposition of county assets under state procurement law.
The court authorized the purchasing agent to advertise a sealed-request for bids (RFB 2026-14) for mowing services for Gray County and to advertise a request for proposals (RFP 2026-16) for general contractor services for a precinct service center and justice facility. The purchasing agent told the court, "Be happy to answer any questions and request this be approved," and the court approved both solicitations by motion and voice vote.
The court also approved the disposition of Gregg County assets in accordance with Texas Local Government Code references cited on the agenda (263.152 and 263.153). The purchasing agent answered questions from commissioners before the court approved the disposition.
Why it matters: The solicitations move procurement processes forward for routine county services (mowing) and a larger capital project (precinct service/justice facility). The asset disposition approval allows the county to remove certain items from inventory under state law.
