Chief Justice said two people were arrested in connection with a local PayPal scam and that investigators submitted a suspect's phone to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation for forensic analysis; that work identified additional victims in Michigan, Kentucky and Chillicothe. He said Bert Johnson is coordinating with other departments on a multi-agency effort and that Special Agent Kurt Dirker will present additional information at a scam seminar on Thursday.
On community policing, Justice reported that 153 children participated in Shop with a Cop at Target and that the event spent $37,000. He also updated council on a deer-control effort: eight deer have been taken so far (nine were shot, one was lost).
No formal action was taken on these reports; Justice and the mayor encouraged residents to attend the upcoming scam seminar for more information.
