Town manager reports paving, summer programming and radio station progress

Town Manager Eric gave a broad operations update on June 9, reporting completed pavement work, summer programming rollouts and several infrastructure items.

Eric said paving is complete on Beaver Dam, North Wayne, Lane and Morrow roads, with gravel application outstanding and overall costs tracking at or under budget. The town reinstalled its road‑management software and expects to use seasonal staff to help integrate data for better decision‑making.

On recreation, staff confirmed swim lessons are scheduled and that Jen has completed lifeguard certification; a storage container for recreation equipment is due to arrive June 19. Heritage Days is set for Aug. 8–10, with expanded Sunday programming involving the library and possible donated carriage rides.

Eric also said interior LPFM radio station equipment and software are built and the town plans to rent a lift to install the antenna. He noted the FY25 audit is complete and will be circulated to the board, and he has submitted paperwork for a municipal certified manager credential.

Board members asked operational clarifications about center-line striping experiments on recently paved roads and about staff roles during swim lessons. The town manager said striping (fog lines and selective center lines) is an experiment to reduce speeds and that lifeguard‑certified staff will be present during lessons.

The update included routine administrative notes (town office closures June 19 and a summer resident meeting Aug. 1) and praise for town staff and committee volunteers.
