Silver Lake council approves managed IT services contract; monthly cost to rise about $2,500

The Village Council voted 7–0 on Nov. 6 to authorize the mayor to enter an agreement with Quality IP for managed IT services and cybersecurity enhancements under Ordinance No. 78.
Mayor Dunphy said the contract would strengthen network security, modernize server infrastructure and separate police access via two servers. She said the Village audited its computer inventory to ensure contract pricing reflected actual equipment counts and credited Administrative Assistant Kim Pigman for verifying the information. The contract covers management of both physical and virtual servers, but the server equipment itself will be purchased separately under the mayor's spending authority and appropriated in the capital budget.
The mayor flagged an additional, separate one‑time charge of approximately $360 for access tokens that enable police vehicles to connect securely to the new system; that charge was described as outside the contract and would appear on a separate invoice. She said the recurring monthly charge under the agreement would be about $4,132, which represents an increase of roughly $2,500 per month from the prior contract. Council members attributed the increase to more covered devices, expanded software coverage and a rise to 15 billed hours per month (up from 8 previously). Councilmember Tom DiCaudo said he supported the arrangement for the added security and consistent support.
Council suspended rules and adopted the ordinance by roll call vote 7–0.
Next steps: the mayor will execute the agreement and return appropriation language for the server equipment purchase; the contract's recurring cost will be reflected in future monthly budgets.
