Planning Board to revise Solid Waste Management Ordinance; fee schedule removed from draft

The Town of Skowhegan Planning Board on Jan. 6 reviewed proposed updates to the Solid Waste Management Ordinance and directed staff to prepare a revised draft for the board’s next meeting.
Board members reviewed feedback provided to staff by Cindy (reported to the board by Aaron Crocker). The board instructed Town Planner Turner Allen to remove the fee schedule from Section 5 of the draft ordinance and to remove the 'Preparation of recyclables' language from the ordinance text so those operational instructions can be posted at town buildings and on the municipal website.
Planner Turner Allen will make the specified edits and bring the amended ordinance back to the Planning Board for approval; after the board signs off, the document will be forwarded to the Selectboard for approval to move to a public hearing. The minutes note that Cindy provided feedback in advance but was not present at the meeting.
The board did not vote on the amended ordinance at this meeting; the changes are administrative edits to the KVCOG-drafted update and intend to shift operational details out of the ordinance into posted guidance and the fee schedule into an administrative document. No fee amounts or effective dates were provided in the meeting minutes.
