Northfield council unanimously adopts four emergency resolutions including generator contract and vehicle purchase

On Sept. 13 the Northfield council unanimously approved four emergency resolutions: certifying tax levies, adjusting the police chief’s salary, awarding a generator contract to Generator One LLC, and authorizing purchase of a 2023 Ford F-600 dump truck from Classic Auto Group; each vote passed after suspension of the three-reading rule.
The Village of Northfield council on Sept. 13 read and adopted four emergency resolutions by unanimous roll-call votes of the council members recorded in the minutes.
Law Director Brad Bryan read the resolutions by title. Council moved to suspend the three-reading rule for each measure and then moved to adopt each resolution; the roll-call votes recorded for each motion listed six affirmative votes: Councilpersons Jesse Ferko, Renell Noack, Gary Vojtush, Nick Magistrelli, Alan Hipps and Kevin Lewis.
The four adopted emergency resolutions were:
- Resolution No. 2023-38: Accepting the amounts and rates as determined by the Summit County Budget Commission and authorizing the necessary tax levies and certifying them to the fiscal officer.
- Resolution No. 2023-39: Relating to the salary of the Chief of Police (first reading and adopted as an emergency resolution in the same meeting).
- Resolution No. 2023-40: Authorizing the Mayor to accept the bid of Generator One LLC for supplying and installing backup power generators at three Village-owned buildings. Engineer Daniel Collins told the council the Village received only one bid for the project but that bid was within 10% of his estimate; Collins said one generator for the Ledge Road building is off the shelf and available immediately while the other two units may have 30–40 week lead times and the Houghton Road unit requires specialized capacity to power an air compressor.
- Resolution No. 2023-41: Authorizing and directing the Mayor to purchase a 2023 Ford F-600 Super Duty dump truck from Classic Auto Group.
Each resolution was moved and seconded (the meeting minutes record the individual makers and seconders for procedural motions) and recorded roll-call votes show unanimous yes votes among the listed council voting members. The minutes do not record any dissent or abstentions, and they do not show separate discussion or amendments to these resolutions beyond the procedural suspension and adoption steps.
