Probate Register Sean Paulhus told the Sagadahoc County Commissioners on Aug. 13 that the county’s Probate Office discontinued passport services effective Aug. 1, 2024.
Paulhus said the decision followed a dramatic decline in passport appointments and the U.S. Postal Service’s decision to begin offering passport services, which reduced demand. Commissioner Crosby asked that adequate notification be provided so the public understands where to obtain passport services going forward.
No formal action was taken at the meeting; Paulhus asked staff to ensure public notice of the change.
