Richfield council accepts assistant police chief retirement, approves several hires and appointments

Council also voted unanimously to accept the resignation of Police Officer Victoria Bodnar, effective April 26, 2026, and to approve Part-Time Officer Jacqueline Schuldas a full-time Richfield police officer. Wheeler reiterated Schuldbackground: an associate degree in criminal justice, eight years as a commissioned criminal investigator for the Ohio Board of Pharmacy and seven years as a patrol officer in Beachwood.
The council approved hiring Jason Greenaway as a part-time fire medic after Fire Chief Seifert described Greenawayexperience, including nine years as a part-time fire medic with Columbia Township and service as a Cuyahoga County Metro SWAT medic. That motion passed unanimously.
On board appointments, Council approved Pat Norris to fill the seat vacated by Paul Swan on the Board of Zoning Appeals (term to 2026). Council also approved Ralph Waszak Sr. as an alternate to the Board of Zoning Appeals; that appointment passed 6-1 (Stoppenhagen recorded as the lone no vote).
