Sandy River Plantation Board of Assessors approves minutes and warrants, schedules special town meeting

The Board of Assessors approved the minutes as submitted and reviewed and signed Warrants 10 and 11 at the Aug. 13 meeting; Warrant 9 had been signed by a majority off meeting. The clerk confirmed the representative letter and engagement letter for the FY2023 audit were signed and returned to auditing firm RHR Smith; the clerk is following up on an auditor-identified discrepancy.
The board scheduled a public hearing for ordinance review and warrant signing at its Oct. 8, 2024 meeting at 4:00 PM and set the Special Town Meeting for Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024 at 4:00 PM. The clerk will prepare required documents for the special meeting.
Other administrative items included review of bank proposals (Camden, Franklin Savings, Skowhegan Savings) with follow-up questions directed to Franklin Savings, receipt of website RFP proposals (three of four vendors), and direction to upgrade internet service and remove the designated fax line. Assessor Rodney Varney reported preliminary research indicating potential annual savings of $8,000–$10,000 if the town switches transfer-station haulers; Varney will follow up to pursue the change.
