Town manager to attend Wabanaki summit; board hears insurance, trail and safety updates

The Select Board received a series of informational updates at its Sept. 9 meeting.
Town Manager Garrett Corbin said he planned to attend the Four Corners Wabanaki Tourism Summit Sept. 11–13 and reported airport crack sealing work had started. The board discussed insurance renewal: Corbin recommended including Terrorism Risk Insurance (TRIA) this year for casualty coverage while members asked staff to clarify what EQB covers and whether the town had missed eligible claims; Corbin agreed to review the coverage and the board voted to renew subject to later discovery. Software consultant Tim Flight flagged cyber insurance as an important coverage consideration and Corbin said he would look into adding it.
The board noted a Town Manager meet-and-greet scheduled for Homecoming weekend (Oct. 11–13) with several community events. Police placed a speed-limit sign at the AGC/library parking lot to improve safety for school-bus drop-offs. Narrow Gauge trail work will begin soon under Jordan Excavation with a drilling and blasting subcontractor; the board requested adequate signage to reduce use of the pathway above the Huston Brook bridge during work.
Next steps: staff will report back on insurance coverage details and cyber-insurance options and confirm signage plans for trail work.
