Silverwood Park, Citizens for Sustainability outline spring programs and community events

Baguss reviewed a PowerPoint summarizing current exhibitions and programs and distributed handouts to the Commission. Highlights included a Fix‑it Clinic scheduled for March 28, a Clothing Swap on April 19, an International Sculpture Day event on April 25, ongoing wellness programs, Spring Sound Meditation on March 29 and details about the Silverwood Park Café and rental facilities.
Dan Kunitz outlined Citizens for Sustainability plans for Earth Week (April 19–25), an Environmental Stewardship Scholarship, an Edible Landscape Class on March 28 and a Parks Clean‑Up on April 26; he said he will contact Commissioners to sign them up for the clean‑up. Sustainability Coordinator Minette Saulog reviewed the 2026 Rain Barrel Program and indicated the rain barrel event will be added to the Earth Week calendar as a broader water conservation event.
Other announcements during the reports section included a private property infiltration sewer line grant opening on April 1 and the April 2 "Save the Bees" event at the High School with proceeds to the U of M Bee Lab. No public forum speakers appeared during the meeting.
