Michelle Stafford said the Town of Rome will continue to fund the BLA with $24,000 in 2026 and presented a list of priorities the Water Quality Committee would like to see funded. The list identified areas such as Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) support, Courtesy Boat Inspections and other targeted activities.
Committee member Matt Farragher said the committee need not designate $2,000 specifically for water-quality testing because testing is already being performed by the regional group 7LA. The exchange framed the committee’s funding conversation as prioritizing outreach and on-the-ground activities while avoiding duplication of testing services.
No formal vote on changes to the town’s allocation was recorded in the minutes. The committee asked members to finalize suggested priorities for presentation at the Town Meeting and to coordinate with BLA and 7LA representatives about how shared resources and testing are documented.
