At its May 8 meeting, the Rome Recreation Committee scheduled summer events and listed a set of small purchases and volunteer work to prepare for the season.
The committee recorded a Boston Cane presentation BBQ set for June 21; the Select Board is to present a cane to Rose Talbot. The Town Beach BBQ is planned for July 26; the committee discussed using the church parking lot and providing shuttle service to the beach.
Items the committee said it planned to obtain include break-away bases for the baseball field, sandwich boards for roadside advertising of events and concentrated vinegar to spray the walking track to control weeds. The minutes also noted an equipment-bin addition of a balance bike and helmet. Chelsea Sucy volunteered, with her sons Clay and Brantley, to blow leaves and pick up sticks on the walking track; Sandy Shute will coordinate additional clean-up at the Town Beach. Next meeting is June 4, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. at the Community Center.
The minutes list responsibilities and plans; they do not record formal procurement approvals or votes for purchases at the May 8 meeting.
