Rockport budget committee says EMS figures will be presented Oct. 14; committee prepares questions

Chair opened the meeting by flagging the EMS budget as an imminent item for the committee and the select board. "The new documented numbers are going to be coming out on October 14th," the chair said, and added that Jason would be present to answer questions.
Committee members emphasized the importance of seeing revenue as well as invoiced amounts. One member noted that health-care billing timing complicates the figures and urged the presentation include revenue-to-date rather than only invoiced totals. The chair and others agreed that the select board presentation on Oct. 14 will be the first public opportunity to see the reconciled EMS numbers and that attending or streaming that meeting will be helpful preparation for the budget committee.
Members discussed how billing and collection lags can make preliminary quarter-to-date figures misleading and asked that Megan and town staff clarify which columns will show invoiced amounts versus actual collections. Jason was identified as the staff representative expected to be available on Oct. 14 to answer operational or billing questions.
The committee agreed to use the Oct. 14 select board meeting as an initial review and to follow up at the committee's next meeting with more detailed questions after the town posts the reconciled figures.
