Roxbury selectmen authorize Theriault stream grant research, discuss Gorham stream bidding and veterans memorial design

At the March 24, 2026 meeting, the Roxbury Board of Selectmen voted 3-0 to allow staff to research and submit a grant application for engineering work on the Theriault Stream project and discussed options to bid the Theriault and Gorham stream projects together to reduce costs.
Board members noted a risk that applying for a grant now could miss the construction window this year; the town engineer recommended researching both projects and considering a combined bid package to possibly lower overall costs. The motion to research and put an application in for the Theriault Stream grant passed unanimously.
The Selectmen also addressed plans for a veterans memorial. Chair Timothy Derouche moved to authorize Pine Tree Engineering to contact Collettes to determine how many names can fit on memorial stones so the Veterans Committee and the Select Board can finalize the monument size; the motion passed 3-0.
Other infrastructure matters discussed included Daniels Stream, for which the board said elevations are needed and Community Resilience might assist, and a Public Beach Stream project slated for 2026. The board reviewed winter-roads operations and estimated approximately 500 tons of salt for the next season; they also reviewed the salt/sand shed arrangements with a new contractor and questioned whether hydrant maintenance is covered under the winter-roads contract.
