Roxbury selectmen agree to sponsor Medcare solar battery grant and approve multiple routine motions

The Roxbury Board of Selectmen voted April 28 to sponsor a Medcare grant to add a battery backup to Medcare’s solar array, after a presentation from Chief Paul Landry of Medcare. Landry said the grant requires a municipal sponsor, would not cost the town anything, and that Medcare would cover the required 10% match. Selectman Timothy Derouche moved to sponsor the grant; the motion passed 3-0.

The board also completed routine business including approval of prior meeting minutes (April 14 and April 21) and the signing of Warrant #8 for $116,629.55. Selectman Matthew Patneaude seconded motions throughout the meeting; most administrative motions passed unanimously 3-0. The board voted 3-0 to remove permitting and engineering costs from the town’s fixed assets accounting.

The board approved municipal support for a Roxbury ATV Club grant after the club reported on a recent roadside cleanup and presented a grant packet. The board voted 3-0 to sign the municipal grant and to appoint Toby Wells as project coordinator for the ATV Club project.

Other formal actions included accepting the Oxford County tax report and continuing a dumpster/beach cleanup cost; both motions passed 3-0. The board entered an executive session under 1 M.R.S. §405(6)(A) to discuss a personnel matter and later closed the session and returned to public meeting with motions approved 3-0.

The meeting closed after the board approved the warrant and adjourned at 7:52 p.m. The board noted several upcoming workshops and meetings related to the comprehensive plan, ratio declaration and summer roads.
