The council reviewed sealed bids for sidewalk repairs and improvements and approved the low bid from Mike Riley Construction.
Staff reported three sealed bids: Bertozzi (about $169,720), Hector Aviles (about $128,658) and Mike Riley Construction ($108,819). After discussion about scope and prioritization, the council voted to award the contract to Mike Riley Construction, with Dave moving and Doug seconding the motion; the chair said the motion passed by voice vote.
Separately, staff reported progress on city pickleball courts: concrete poured (donated by local donors Todd and Aiden), power and water being installed and lights expected to be delivered Monday. The concrete/asphalt work funded via the CIB application is awaiting completion; staff said asphalt work was expected soon and the project is moving forward ahead of Orangeville Days.
Council did not set additional conditions on the sidewalk award at the meeting; staff and council members said they would follow up on scope, phasing and priority segments to match available funds.
