The RSU 20 school board adopted a draft "Welcome to RSU 20" handbook that includes a set of board norms and an explicit "focus on students" principle to guide deliberations.
Board members approved the handbook in a motion and then accepted a draft volunteer handbook and a substitute handbook that outline expectations, confidentiality requirements and application procedures for volunteers and substitutes. Administrators said the volunteer application will be linked on the RSU20 website and communications staff will promote opportunities.
The board also approved an updated job description for an after-school program coordinator, changing the prior "director" language to a coordinator role and removing references to a 21st-century program while retaining the program’s core duties. Administrators noted at least one candidate has already applied and that the change is intended to align job language with current program needs.
Other routine personnel and policy items were approved in the consent process. The board asked communications staff to publish the approved handbooks and to run outreach to recruit volunteers now that applications and handbooks are finalized.
Most handbook approvals were passed by voice vote ('All in favor'); the meeting record did not include a roll-call tally for those motions.
