RSU 20 approves spring coaching slate, accepts personnel transfers and records retirements

Trustees voted to accept a package of coaching and volunteer appointments for spring athletics, taking four positions as a single motion and approving named coaches and assistants including Jeff Golder (middle school track), Dallas Richards (middle school softball), Austin Heath (middle school baseball) and Kristen Oy (high school coach) with assistant RJ/AJ listed as offered. The motion passed by voice vote.
The board also approved the transfer of Sarah Wyman from grade 7–8 ELA teacher to middle/high school library media specialist; board members clarified that questions may be asked about positions but not about specific individuals during personnel motions.
The superintendent read several retirement notices into the record. A resignation/retirement letter from Andrea Staples was read, which stated in part: "I am writing to formally resign my position as school counselor at Searsport District High School effective August 31st," and the board expressed appreciation for long service. The superintendent also noted Amber Crum Holtz intends to retire and move closer to family, and another ed‑tech, Shannon Herb, submitted a retirement notice indicating intent to step down at the end of the 2024–25 school year but expressed interest in returning for 2025–26 if a position is available.
Under Policy DN (School Property Disposition) the superintendent informed trustees that two district buses and related materials have been declared surplus and will be disposed of by sealed bid/public notice, with municipal offices to be notified and public notice posted on the district website for at least seven days prior to opening bids.
All personnel and surplus‑property motions were taken and approved during the meeting; the board did not record individual roll‑call tallies in the transcript.
