At the June 17 Mendota City Council meeting, Chief of Police Smith provided the monthly report for Animal Control and Police and discussed public-safety matters, while City Manager Gonzalez outlined project and budget highlights.
Chief Smith reviewed animal-control and police statistics for May, discussed preparations for the 2025 Mendota Fireworks Spectacular and spoke about the status of a proposed shooting range, including whether it would be open to the public once established. He also reviewed incident-report processes, narcotics enforcement and warrant arrests and urged continued community education on electric-bike safety.
City Manager Gonzalez spoke about the adopted FY 2025–26 operating budget, ongoing city projects and thanked staff for their work. He noted that the Mendota Community Center project was selected in congressionally directed spending requests by Congressman Adam Gray and Senator Alex Padilla. Gonzalez also referenced Intersect Power and the Darden Clean Energy project as items under active consideration.
The department reports were presented for information; no formal council action or vote was recorded on the shooting range or the energy projects during the meeting. The minutes show the council acknowledged the reports and moved to adjourn at 7:01 p.m.
