Author asks Edgecomb board for support documenting Princeville School history

Stanley told the Edgecomb Public Schools board she is writing a history of Princeville School covering principals and educators from 1883 to 1964. She said her research includes archival work, genealogical sources and visits to libraries and museums, and that she has found previously unrecognized principals and highly educated early Black educators who taught at the school.
Stanley asked the board for its support in preserving and publicizing the work when published; she said a large publisher is interested but a contract was not yet signed. She described the project as a way to ensure the local history "is recorded and preserved." The board thanked her and took no formal action during the meeting.
