RSU 24 flags federal grant delays and approves $22,000 grease-trap repair at Mountain View

At the July 11 meeting RSU 24’s superintendent told the board the U.S. Department of Education has delayed the release of several federal grants, creating uncertainty for planned initiatives funded by Titles II and IV. The district’s FY25 Title II allocation was reported as $63,621 and Title IV as $48,139, and funds were intended for professional development and summer programming.
Separately, the facilities report described a broken grease-trap drain at Mountain View. Staff proposed a repair using hydro-blasting, a sleeve and epoxy as a less-invasive alternative to tearing up floors and pavement; the estimated cost is approximately $22,000. The superintendent noted the district has about $28,000 in that contingency cost center and intends to use the contingency funds for the repair.
Board members accepted the facilities report and heard the federal grant update; the superintendent said the district will keep the board informed as the grant picture becomes clearer.
