DeWitt City Council hears staff updates on scooters, church expansion, safety and local events

The Downtown Development Authority and the Mayor reviewed the city audit; Clerk-Treasurer Sarah Stoltzfus reported she attended the annual MERS conference. DAESA approved a policy implementing elements of the Earned Sick Leave Act and is continuing work on additional policies. The Planning Department reviewed a site plan for the proposed expansion of DeWitt Christian Church.
Chief Bryan Curtis briefed council members on a home playoff football game scheduled for Oct. 31, which coincides with Halloween and a musical performance in town; he also shared plans for Officer Sharon Worthington’s retirement luncheon and noted Angela Matthews began full-time employment on Oct. 26. DARA will meet in November, and Councilmember Whitman said downtown businesses are organizing a Small Business Saturday gift-basket drawing.
