Vinalhaven selectmen approve warrants, insurance update, sewer adjustment and set follow-ups

The Vinalhaven Board of Selectmen approved a series of routine administrative actions at its May 5 meeting, including warrants, election and town meeting documents, an insurance coverage update for the library, and a sewer leak adjustment.
Selectman Eric Gasperini moved to approve the agenda (which added item 9e, a sewer leak adjustment) and to approve Treasurer’s Warrant #45; both motions carried 4-0. Gasperini also moved to approve and sign the Town Election Warrant; that motion passed 4-0. Deputy Clerk Elizabeth Bunker identified and the board corrected a typo in Article 21 of the Annual Town Meeting Warrant; Selectman Pam Alley moved to approve the warrant as amended and the board approved 4-0. Selectman Tom Anthony moved to approve and sign the MSAD#8 Budget Validation Referendum Warrant; the motion passed 4-0.
On insurance, Selectman Eric Gasperini moved to update the library’s coverage to reproduction cost, at an annual increase of $690; the board approved 4-0. For utilities, the board reviewed a sewer leak adjustment submitted by Maine Water for 37 East Main Street; Selectman Pam Alley moved to approve the adjustment, Selectman Eric Gasperini seconded, and the vote was 4-0. Town Manager Marjorie Stratton told the board that 30-day notices for sewer liens will be mailed this week.
Selectmen were informed that SCADA loan documents were not available for signing and reached consensus to schedule a special meeting to obtain signatures when the documents arrive. In her managerial report Stratton also noted an increase in the price of paving material (attributed to petroleum costs) and said the proposed Knox County budget returned slightly lower than expected. The meeting adjourned at 6:09 PM.
