Litchfield officials close out $1 million Bantam Falls renovation grant

First Selectman Denise Raap presided over a public hearing May 5 at the Bantam Annex in which town officials announced the completion of a $1,000,000 Small Cities Grants-funded renovation of Bantam Falls.
Peter Testa, the administrator for the Small Cities Grants program, told the Board of Selectmen that his firm was hired in 2021 to administer the grant and that the project is now 100% complete. He outlined the scope of work, which included replacing windows throughout all units and common areas, creating six ADA-accessible units, power washing, parking-lot line striping, construction of a dumpster enclosure and installation of security lighting. In total, 36 units were renovated, benefitting 37 residents, Testa said.
Testa said the Town of Litchfield served as the grant recipient and that the Housing Authority was the subrecipient for the project. The purpose of the public hearing, he said, was to notify the public of the project's completion and to formally close out the grant. The hearing concluded at 5:09 p.m.
The session record indicates there was no formal vote on any additional measures during the hearing; the event functioned as a project closeout notification to the community. First Selectman Denise Raap and Selectmen Jeff Zullo and John Bongiorno were present; Selectman Dan Morosani arrived shortly after the start, and Selectman Jodiann Tenney was absent.
