Administrators told the RSU 25 School Board they completed a full rewrite of the ACAA harassment and sexual‑harassment policy to reflect recent federal Title IX updates and recommended not altering the sample legal language. The board approved moving a block of student conduct policies to second reading and accepted multiple reviewed policies with no substantive changes.
The rewrite separates investigation procedures: R2 will address sexual‑nature complaints and related investigations, while R1 will cover other discrimination and harassment procedures. Administrators also identified required administrative contacts and a confidential point person to aid investigations and said they will provide Title IX–related training for administrators and staff in September.
District counsel advised the district to adopt the updated language despite an existing federal injunction mentioned in the meeting; administrators said their lawyers recommended continuing updates because the injunction is expected to lift. The board unanimously approved the procedural steps presented and scheduled training for administrators to implement the new procedures.
No disciplinary cases or legal decisions were decided at the meeting; the board's actions were limited to policy review, first/second readings and scheduling training.
