RSU 23 board approves hires, hears food-service director departure and summer facilities update

The RSU 23 School Board voted Aug. 21 to approve the new hires presented by the administration, including a .5 full-time-equivalent math teacher at the high school, Andrew Rosado.

Superintendent John Suttie also announced that Food Service Director Caroline Trinder will leave the district for the private sector; the superintendent said her last day will be Sept. 12, 2025. The board approved the hires in a single motion moved by Barbara Roberge and seconded by Santino Perrone; the motion carried with all in favor.

During his report, Suttie thanked summer custodial and maintenance staff for cleaning and preparing school buildings for the fall and described a new tradition: a luncheon to thank summer employees. He specifically named Kevin Girard and Mark Beaudoin for their work.

Student Representative Ransom Randall updated the board on athletics rosters, reporting about 20–23 players on the boys soccer team, 29 on girls soccer and 25–27 on the football roster, and noted that the Class of 2026 had decorated its senior parking spots.

Eric Hanson presented on summer facilities projects — painting, floor work and cleaning — and Peter Flaherty (Building Needs Committee) echoed that much of the work had been completed. Craig Evans reported the Finance Committee had not met since the prior session.

Santino Perrone read several policy sections for the record (JCLD, KB, KCB and KDD). The meeting adjourned at 6:20 p.m. on a motion by Perrone seconded by Roberge. Minutes were submitted by Cathy Couture, Executive Assistant to the Superintendent.
