At the Oct. 16 RSU 23 School Board meeting, committee reports outlined recent facilities work, budget status and technology plans.
Peter Flaherty, reporting for the Building Needs Committee, said painting is finished, traffic flow improvements and new handicapped parking signs are in place at Loranger Memorial School, and a kitchen window has been replaced. He told the board that gym lighting needs eventual replacement, the phone system is fully operational, and the district is short one custodian with hiring expected in the coming months.
On finance, the committee reported the district is "in very good shape," with all schools under budget and 22.14% of the annual budget expended year-to-date. The minutes note there will be three pay days in October and that the phone installation came in $68,000 under budget.
The Technology Committee said the district implemented a new plan this year to keep student devices working and serviceable in classrooms.
The reports included no firm timelines for the gym lighting replacement or exact hiring dates for custodial staff. The board approved routine minutes and personnel motions during the same meeting.
