RSU 23 board approves staff contract extensions and one-year extension for superintendent

The RSU 23 School Board approved multiple staff contract extensions and a one-year extension for Superintendent John Suttie at its Oct. 16 meeting in Old Orchard Beach.
Board member Santino Perrone moved to approve a slate of two-year contract extensions; Peter Flaherty seconded and the motion passed by voice vote, with all members recorded as in favor. Later in the meeting Perrone moved to approve a one-year contract extension for Superintendent John Suttie; Flaherty seconded and the motion again passed unanimously.
The board also completed a round of policy readings. Barbara Roberge read the first reading of Policy EBBD (Temperature Standards for School Buildings). Perrone read second readings of Policies ADA (School District Goals and Objectives), ADAA (School System Commitment to Standards for Ethical and Responsible Behavior), and LDA (Student Teaching and Internships). Perrone moved, and Donna Moutsatsos seconded, to accept the second readings; the board voted in favor.
No roll-call tallies were recorded in the minutes; the minutes report each measure as adopted by unanimous voice vote. The meeting adjourned at 6:46 p.m.
The board approved the minutes from its Sept. 18 meeting at the start of the Oct. 16 session and listed no public comments or correspondence for this meeting.
