Chebeague Island School Committee approves two policies in second reading, tables nepotism policy

The Chebeague Island School Committee approved two policies in their second reading at the Dec. 7, 2021 meeting and tabled a separate nepotism policy for later review.
Jeff Putnam, a School Committee member, moved to approve policies IHBAC (Child Find) and BCB (Conflict of Interest) in their second reading; Emily Short seconded the motion. The committee voted 5-0-0 to approve the policies.
The committee tabled policy BCC (Nepotism) for further consideration. Members also noted the district's IJOC (School Volunteers) policy was mentioned in the review and will be examined at a future meeting.
Suzanne Rugh, School Committee chair, presided over the meeting. Superintendent Ann C. Kirkpatrick told members she had distributed materials from the Maine Department of Education about notifying MDOE of the superintendent’s contract; the committee agreed to review that document at its next meeting.
The committee approved the meeting agenda and prior minutes earlier in the session by unanimous votes and handled routine correspondence, including an email from Donna Damon about the town manager selection process and a thank-you note from the University of Farmington.
