The Chebeague Island School Committee on Sept. 21 appointed Emily Short and Geoff Summa to fill two vacant committee seats through the June 2022 elections and elected Viktoria Wood as vice chair, the committee’s minutes show.
The committee voted 4-0-0 to appoint Short and Summa after each candidate described their background and interest. Jeff Putnam moved the appointment; Viktoria Wood seconded. Later in the meeting Leah Guay moved to elect Viktoria Wood as vice chair; Suzanne Rugh seconded and the motion passed 4-0-0.
Routine procedural items also passed without opposition. The meeting opened at 6:04 p.m. and earlier approved the agenda and the Sept. 7 minutes by 4-0-0 tallies. An agenda item on transportation was tabled and will return to a future meeting.
The committee met with Superintendent Ann Kirkpatrick and other staff in attendance. The committee entered executive session under 1 M.R.S.A. §405(6)(A) at 6:55 p.m. and returned at 7:35 p.m.; no action was taken while in executive session. The meeting adjourned at 7:37 p.m.
Motions and unanimous outcomes recorded in the minutes mean the new appointees will serve until the June 2022 elections and Viktoria Wood will assume vice-chair duties immediately.
