Chebeague Island School Committee sets committee rosters, schedules and school-year goals

The Chebeague Island School Committee assigned members to standing committees and set meeting dates during its July 20 session.
Rosters and near-term schedules are: Finance/Negotiations — Leah Guay, Jeff Putnam and Vika (Viktoria) Wood (meeting timing to be coordinated with the Town Manager); Buildings & Grounds — Leah Guay, Jeff Putnam and Meredith Beaupre, to meet quarterly with the first meeting Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2021 at 5:00 p.m.; Policy — Leah Guay, Suzanne Rugh and Meredith Beaupre with a first meeting Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. The Policy committee will review policies before first reading at the full School Committee meeting; Policy BED (remote participation in school board meetings) is the first policy scheduled for review. Committees were asked to set goals at their first meetings and may use Zoom for meetings when appropriate.
At the workshop earlier that evening, Chair Leah Guay and members discussed school-year goals: increasing joint activities with other islands and Yarmouth, more field-trip learning opportunities, improving public communications (an open house, updated PreK–12 contact lists and showcasing student work), inviting meaningful volunteer participation, setting a schedule for regular review of programming, curriculum and staff, and a short conversation about the school’s touch tank.
