Superintendent Ann Kirkpatrick briefed the School Committee on financial and health-safety matters at the July 20 meeting. She said district staff (Christin and Ann) completed QuickBooks training and that an application was filed with Bangor Savings to allow the school district its own credit card.
Kirkpatrick summarized grant activity: the first COVID grant is being reconciled, a second COVID grant has been submitted for full reimbursement, LEA planning for the 2021–22 school year is underway, and REAP funding is anticipated and will be tracked in QuickBooks.
On health guidance, Kirkpatrick said masks were required for everyone on school buses and vans and that Maine CDC standard operating procedures for responding to COVID cases remain in effect for schools. She noted pooled testing is being used in larger districts (for example, Yarmouth) but that Chebeague does not participate in pooled testing because of its small size. She said masking and social distancing remain strongly recommended for unvaccinated staff and students when indoors. Kirkpatrick said the district would continue to monitor state and federal guidance and expected to make and announce decisions about fall COVID protocols around Aug. 20, 2021.
These updates were presented as part of the Superintendent’s report; no formal committee action was taken on the items at the July 20 meeting.
