Acton board accepts transfer‑station resignation; Warrant & Finance raises several warrant questions

The Select Board at its Jan. 21 meeting accepted the resignation of Robert Mann from the Transfer Station effective Feb. 28, 2026. The board said it will plan a recognition for Mann’s years of service.
During the Warrant & Finance portion of the meeting, committee members asked why Flat Ground Road was moved out of District 2; the Select Board said the warrant has not been finalized and indicated it intends to treat Flat Ground Road as a separate warrant article and asked staff to prepare options including discontinuance or dedication as a town road.
Committee members asked about a $60,000 engineering plan for Transfer Station traffic flow that had been appropriated previously; Select Board members said plans were developed publicly two years ago and suggested the committee raise operational details at a Select Board meeting or during public comment. The board said there is no current warrant article to buy a new compactor and that copies of old and new sheriff contracts are public records that can be provided. The question about whether the Acton Historical Society has a reserve for Lincoln School was deferred to the society, as the town does not manage the group's books.
The Warrant & Finance Committee decided to postpone its Jan. 27 meeting until the full warrant is complete.
