York County EMA will map Acton hazards at no local cost; Phil Caruso appointed liaison

Chris McCall, Emergency Preparedness Coordinator with the York County Emergency Management Agency, told the Select Board the county received a grant to carry out a natural hazard vulnerability assessment for Acton and that the work will be conducted at no cost or local match to the town.
McCall said the project will consolidate known hazards into a single analysis and mapping product, produce clear priorities and a practical roadmap to position Acton for state and federal funding, and involve community meetings and staff data support during spring and summer with a final report expected in the fall of 2026.
McCall asked that Phil Caruso, Acton’s EMA Director, serve as the primary town liaison; the Select Board approved that appointment by motion. Caruso will help coordinate local meetings, provide access to town data and serve as a point of contact for volunteers and staff.
The board discussed limited staff time commitments and the potential to use the assessment to pursue mitigation grants in the future.
