The Cranston City Council voted to confirm Richard Green as assistant fire chief after the finance committee recommended the nomination on June 1.
Councilman Andahar described the nomination and urged passage. Director Renzuli presented Green’s record: "Rick Green is a lifelong Cranston resident ... For the past 29 years, Rick Green has served the people of Cranston as a member of the Cranston Fire Department," and noted Green’s experience as EMS division chief. The director said Mayor Kenneth J. Hopkins believes Green brings the experience and temperament necessary for the role and formally requested the council’s advice and consent.
Council members offered brief supportive comments, the clerk called the roll and the council voted to confirm the nomination. Council President Wall congratulated Assistant Fire Chief Green after the vote.
The confirmation places Green in the assistant chief role; any operational changes or reporting assignments will follow departmental procedure.
