Lebanon board adopts resolution to appoint Class 3 special law enforcement officers

The Township of Lebanon board voted to adopt Resolution 35-2026, appointing Class 3 special law enforcement officers for the township with a six-month term effective Jan. 1, a member said when moving the measure. "I make a motion to adopt Resolution number 35-2026, appointment of Class 3 special law enforcement officers for the Township of Lebanon," the committee member said, and the motion was seconded.

Board members clarified the term and effective date before proceeding. The clerk noted the appointments are for "months, sir, effect January 1," and members confirmed the measure reflected the boilerplate language the township used in 2024. "We have it from the 2024... it's boilerplate," the chair said while reviewing the package.

Members also discussed a separate civil-rights resolution that had been in the reorganization packet and drew debate when language referencing the 14th Amendment and other amendments was introduced. One member described restoring the previous wording as "the best thing to do" after contested edits. The clerk said many grant programs require a civil-rights statement and that the township typically adopts a short, two-paragraph boilerplate version to satisfy those requirements.

After discussion and a roll call, the board recorded affirmative votes and moved on to other agenda items. The meeting then shifted to scheduling budget review sessions and administrative matters.
