UNIFIL records fall in reported airspace violations as U.N. urges civilian protection

The U.N. spokesperson reported that UNIFIL has observed continued violence in southern Lebanon but at a significantly reduced level compared with the weekend, citing 38 airspace violations by the Israeli Defense Forces yesterday—down from 83 on Sunday—and a drop in projectile trajectories from 705 to 174.
From midnight until 4 p.m. local time on the latest reporting day, peacekeepers recorded 22 airspace violations and roughly 106 projectile trajectories, of which 103 were attributed to the IDF and the remainder to non‑state actors, the spokesperson said. U.N. monitors are also tracking IDF ground movements, including armored activity and engineering operations.
The briefing highlighted humanitarian work coordinated with OCHA, including a UNIFIL‑facilitated mission to Tyre. The spokesperson repeated the U.N. call for the protection of civilians, voluntary and informed returns, and sustained humanitarian access, and warned that unexploded ordnance continues to pose a serious threat to returning families.
